If looked up some information about the Dacht-I-Navar Group.

This is a group of volcanos in current Afghanistan

http://www.volcanolive.com/dacht.html

This website says:

Quote:
Ghazni Province, Afghanistan

33.95 N, 67.92 E
summit elevation 3800 m
Lava domes

Dacht-I-Navar Volcano is located 133 km SW of Kabul. The volcano contains 15 lava domes.

A magnitude 6 earthquake hit 140 km E of the volcano in 6th October 2008.
Dacht-I-Navar Volcano Eruptions

The volcano has erupted in the past 10,000 years.

So this is an option.

this is a googlemap:

this is the same with our map as overlay:

So the volcano-group is in the area 'Gandhara', ascociated with the Kushan Civilization

I'd suggest to use these three in addition to the three on the west part:

Image

Could you check if these are reasonable options?

I think the far east one, should be replaced by one more likely to be in the
middle of the eastern map, as the three in the western map are also more
central. I will see what I can do...

Ok, so:

We already found one.

Let's look for the other two, if they are reasonable.

When I use Google Earth, turning on the volcano option I see only one volcano when I zoom out.

When I looked up some info about this I found the following:

Quote:
Erta Ale is an active shield volcano located in the Afar Region of northeastern Ethiopia. It is the most active volcano in Ethiopia. Erta Ale stands 613 metres tall, with a lava lake, one of only four in the world, at the summit.

Quote:
The floor of the Afar Depression is composed of lava, mostly basalt. One of Earth's great active volcanoes, Erta Ale, is found here. The Afar Depression is, in the views of some geologists, underlain by a mantle plume, a great upwelling of mantle that melts to yield basalt as it approaches the surface.

Seems clear to me, that if the floor of the area is composed of lava, it's been active for quite a time (thousands of years).

So, the location for our second East volcano is: "Danokil", ascociated with the Nubia-civilization

Should it be a problem, that Danokill does not contain a city site. It's a possible location for wilderness city though, cause it's on the edge of the map. (where the '0' Ahmar is illegal). Otherwise an earthquake will occur.

For the third Volcano I've found this:

Quote:
Mazandaran Province, Iran

35.951 N, 52.109 E
summit elevation 5670 m
Stratovolcano

Mt Damavand is located 70 km NE of Tehran and 70 km south of the Caspian Sea. It is the second highest volcano in Asia. The highest volcano in Asia is Kunlun in Tibet.

The slopes of the volcano comprise trachyandesite lava flows. Two periods of eruptive activity have been identified (1.78 Ma-800ka and 500 ka-7.3 ka), separated by a period of quiescence. One significant ignimbrite eruption has been identified, though pyroclastic eruptions have been small and infrequent. Debris avalanche deposits suggest that one or more sector collapse events have occurred at the volcano. The eruptive style has remained the same throughout the volcano's two million year history despite one or more sector collapse events and the formation of a second cone overlying the old eroded cone.

Damavand Volcano Eruptions: ~ 5350 BC

Additional:
Quote:
Damavand is, as any cursory reading of Persian literature will indicate, the Mount Olympus of Persian mythology.

This one might not be the most important for eruption facts, but at least for historical facts.

Location:

I propose to set this volcano on the border like mount etna is on the border of two areas to equal this for West and East.

Also because 'Media' alone does not contain a city site.

So the third volcano is "Damavand" on the border of the areas "Media" and "Hecatompylos" Ascociated with the Parthia-civilzation.

So my proposal:

This is a map of the 6 volcano's based on the current map.

Image

3 volcano's West and 3 volcano's East.

Mt. Danavand is partly on an area with a city site.

The other two East volcano's are not in an area with a city site.

We could either:

- take this for def.
- move all of the current east volcanos to share an area with a city site.
- look for another volcano.

If you think it should be different, please look for a reasonable possible volcano to replace these.

We were discussing the volcanos last weekend and noticed it would be better if the volcanos at least are located on a city site. So, we moved them from the middle of an area to the shared border between two areas.

Not by moving the volcano and changing history, but by adjusting the location for the area borders on the map. In fact the volcanos did not change.

Nevertheless for the most important volcano, Erta Ale, this change could not put it on a city site. Still it's place better in two areas than one, because it raises the chance of a wilderness city build on it.

And, hey, the only reason for placing volcanos in our game, is to destroy a city by volcanic eruption. An earthquake happens anyway.

The new locations now are:

Mt. Damavand
Media / Hecatompylos
Parthia

Mt. Erta Ale
Danokil / Barbaria
Nubia

Dach-I-Navar
Gandhara / Kuhwat
Kushan

West volcanos did not change:

Mt. Vesusvius
Neapolis / Campania
Rome

Mt. Etna
Milazzo / Syracuse
Rome

Mt. Thera
Thera
Minoa

Here's a map image based on the old map. (so you cannot see the changed borders like mentioned above, but you CAN see the right locations). Also I corrected one error I made in the previous one. (vesuvius)
