Hi there,
Read the new gear looks good. I play Civ with 16/17 yr old students and we have some unique rules for powers as per below
CARTHAGE: Start with Cloth Making, reflects their Pheonician maritime roots (felt Astronomy gives them too much, maybe Astronomy cheaper for them)
IBERIA: We had trade routes for 120!
Celts: Can have one more toten in space than allowed
ROME: Starts with URBANISM, METALWORKING
HELLAS: Civil War is made worse by 10 tokens! (Greece had a horrible reputation for fighting amongst themselves in the ancient world both during their classical and hellenistic period).(This may weaken HELLAS a lot-but reflects their inability to unite for the common good of Hellas.
MINOA: Astronomy, Plumbing
HATTI (HITTITES): MetalworkingMilitary costs 100
Assyria: Metal working & Engineering
EGYPT: Mysticism, Deisim, Monarchy
NUBIA: Masonry
SABA: cloth Making
PERSIA: Roadbuilding (reflects Persian Royal Road)Enlightenment
BABYLON: Mysticism, Astronomy,
INDUS: Plumbing(New card helps against Epidemic)(Dont know cost or whatever else yet). Indus and Minoa early examples of spound plumbing practices.

cheers

It is a great start - and covers one thing that the local group frequently talks about, how to figure out what to use and what to drop with less than the max number of players.

I have done a read through, and did up a map showing "ownership" so I have got visual reference.

2.1: Uses the term "owner" and "ownership". I am thinking that if this method is kept, that we must find some other term to use. The section has to currently point out that ownership doesn't really mean ownership :) Maybe "association", or "linked", or something.

=> The idea to get across is not that these nations own these terrorities, but that if that particular nation is not in play, then dropping these terrorities gives a better border for nations which are naturally occuring neighbors. At least, that's the goal I would have it be :)

==> If no nations are in play, should the map board be empty? Right now, it's not....

I found some misspellings compared with the map, but I was not checking exhaustively spelling.

2.23: Caledonia is not listed anywhere; I think it should drop out when the Celts are not in play.

2.23: Northern Wastes is not listed anywhere. I am unsure if that's a bad thing or not. It borders with areas dropped with Celts and areas dropped with Hatti. Intutively, I would drop it with Celts myself, which is why I list it here.

2.23: The terrority Lugia is not capitalized.

2.28: The terrority Phoenicia is misspelled.

2.29: There is comma missing between Cyrene & Upper Egypt.

2.30: Ahmar is not listed in the section. With Nubia dropped out, you can't get to it, so I'd drop it with Nubia.

2.33: Persua is not listed in the section. With Persia dropped out, you can't get to it, so I'd drop it with Persia.

2.34: Listed Parthia, but there's only Western Parthia and Eastern Parthia. It also lists Central Asia as a terrority which is not on the map. Caspian Coast is not listed in this section; if Parthia is dropped out, it would be only accessible by water as all land bordering it would drop out. I would have it drop out with Parthia.

2.35: Misspelled Kalibangan.

2.37: Misspelled Nallas.

2.38: Eastern Himalaya isn't in this section. I would have it drop out with Maurya. The only time this is going to make a difference is if Kush/Kushan is in play and Maurya isn't... and it would look strange to have the Eastern Himalaya still in play.

* Matsya is never removed from play. If we drop it out, I'd assign it to at least the Indus, but it's also bordering Parthia and Maurya.

* Aria is never removed from play. I'm at a loss where to assign it between Parthia, Kush/Kushan and Indus.

* Susa is never removed from play. I'm at a loss where to assign it between Babylon, Parthia and Persia. It is two terrorites away from both Babylon and Persia's start area, so maybe it shouldn't be removed from play. Maybe it's a stranger rule: Remove from play if and only if both Babylon and Persia have been removed from play.

=> Overall, looks good and quite interesting.

I can explain the Caspian Coast. It was added as a territory after the scenario book was created.

Hi to everybody,

First of all, my congratulations for the great job you have done.
I am member of a Spanish club for wargaming (http://www.juegosguerra.com) and we have just started a game using the marvellous cyberboard gamebox made by Jon Garay. I am the gamemaster and as we are seven players I have removed from play the territories as it is stated in the "ScenarioHandbook(2006-04-20-alpha).pdf"

The nations choosed are:
Minoa, Assyria, Rome, Babilon, Hellas, Hatti, Egypt
I have removed: Iberia, Celts and Carthague (I thought the result was a more compact map).

My concern is that I have seen in certain nations territories that are not in the map (nor in civmap-2005-08-11.pdf), in

example:

2.118 Iberia – The following areas are associated with Iberia: Lusitania, Corduba, **Emeritensis**, Western Getules, Western Mauretania, Carthago Nova (NEW CARTHAGUE), **Carthaginensis**, Gallaecia, **Cluniensis**, **Caesaraugustanus**, **Iberus**, Narbo, Ebusus, Baleares, Aquae Sextiae, Aquitania, and Lugdunensis.

I can´t find the ones between ** (5 in total). Are those territories in project?

If I don't bother you, I will tell you about how it worked the restriction of territories in our game, with the idea of contributing to the scenario book.

Best regards,
Jose Luis Fenollosa

Wrong map. There has been an update since 08-11

You shouldn't have had any trouble finding Iberus, as it is on the older map, but some of the names have changed on other territories. The draft map is currently dated 02-15-06

Hi Jose Luis ,

Mcbeth is right, the map version in the west gamebox you have it's the former one, I have uploaded to my webpage a new version of the gamebox with current map. You can download it from now here : http://www.civiboard.com/downloads
In this version Babylon is missing ( part of the east map ) so you would have to change your choice and recover one of the discarded ones ( Iberia, Celts or Carthague ) if you want to play with this one.

Best regards.
