I don't know if it's the correct place to ask, but as i am planning a civilization session with friends I wanted to print & assemble the map .... alas ... how do you print it ... acrobat reader does'nt offer printing on multiple sheets; nor the various driver (i tried on Win200, XP, OSX etc).
I succeeded partialy by opening the file with Illustrator (on OSX).... i can set the printing on multiple pages ... but i lose the fonts [:(!]!!!!!
So How folks do you do to print this fabulous map.
Thanks

Open Acrobat Reader. Set Scale to 100% (if you got a good computer) or 50% (for a comp with 256MB or less ram). Ctrl + A, Ctrl + C. Open an image Editing program (for example Photoshop or Paint Shop Pro) Ctrl + V. Now you have the map in an editable version, and can cut out the panels you want to print, depending on the size of your panels (i.e. what paper size your printer can print on). Good luck!

I'm going to be releasing a gif version due to lots of requests... it will probably be split up into 4 sections.

Thanks ... it works but as guessed turn a vector file to multiple bitmaps. Couldn't you release an illustrator file (the file the pdf was generated from), it would allow the few od us having illustrator to print with great quality, still with a small size (vector graphics). It sounds very strange. All Illustrator data, along with the fonts, are imbedded within the pdf files. In effect, when you download the pdf map, you automatically download the source files as well. All so that anyone can modify the map freely.
I may have missed out of making the file compatible with Illustrator 8.0 and 9.0, even though I thought i fixed that part. What Illustrator are you using? Also, are you SURE that the fonts aren´t there?
I know that Adobe Distiller has some vector shredding tools. As much as I loath having a vectorised map bitmapped, i understand why it might need to be done. However; if the sole purpose of this atrocity is to get it down to printable panels, I´d preferred if they were still vectorised (using, for example, Distiller to accomplish this). I can do this myself, if no one else volunteers.

I am using Illustrator 10 on a macintosh. I guess the problem comes from the fonts illustrator consider that they are missing !!!
BookAntiqua BookAntiqua-Bold BookAntiqua-Bold-Italic and MonotypeCorsiva.
I guess it's a classic Mac/PC problem ( that's why pdf format was created ) ... BokAntiqua for PC is as Palatino for Mac and MonotypeCorsiva for PC is as Zaft Dingbat for Mac !!!

WOW!! I'm thoroughly impressed by all the magnificent work that has been done over the last few months since I've been away from the game! Obviously this has been as a result of a lot of hard work and love for the game - thank you SO much for your diligence and dedication!! My group of gamers and I have many ideas for how to expand the game further and tailor it to our own imagination for our own house rule gaming. For this purpose, I was hoping you might be able to tell me how to go about editing the images you've provided for the civ cards and commodity and calamity cards, and even the map. What program(s) did you use, and what might I use to accomplish this endeavor? I would greatly appreciate your information, as it would immensely enhance our gaming experience, and allow us to realize our visions. Thank you!

DLuciano and anyone else to whom it may apply:
Thanks for the psd file; unfortunately, my Adobe Photoshop will not read it, and only shows a blank screen. I will try again with the full Adobe Suite, but I was also hoping someone might be able to provide me with the Civ cards and calamity cards, as well as the map, in editable versions. Is this possible? Or is there a way to edit the images that have already been published on this website? Thanks.

As martin is probably tired of stating, the map is already in editable form. Just load the PDF in to Illustrator (works here on OSX (thanks for the font fix)

What do you mean by blank screen? Do you mean a gray background with a white border? If so, then that is what you should see... you need to turn on the various layers to see the graphics. If you mean something else, not sure what it could be. It was created with Photoshop 7.0

DLuciano,
Excellent! I figured out how to view the layers in your pdf. Unfortunately, the commodity cards are the one thing I do NOT want to tinker with, as they are so perfectly untouchable! Nonetheless, thanks very much for your help.
