Non-tradable calamities are resolved before tradable calamities from the
same trade stack (i.e., the order of resolution is Volcanic Eruption,
Treachery, Famine, Superstition, etc.).
Does this mean:
A:
1. All major calamities are revealed simultanously.
2. All major calamities are resolved in the given order...
This would be:
(Major calamities are then revealed) and (resolved in ascending order..)
B:
1. The first calamity is revealed and resolved if drawn (vulcano..)
2. The second calamitiy is revealed and resolved if drawn (treachery..)
3. The third...
This would be:
Major calamities are then (revealed and resolved in ascending order..)
It is quite a difference to know which neighbors are hit by which calamities afterward, if I resolve my own calamity.
The answer to your question is
A:
We use as houserule though option B.
So, first reveal and resolve all minor clamities smultaniously. These have not much effect on eachother and if so use number order for ties. This saves a lot of time. Then reveal and resolve one calamity after another. The gamemaster calls the calamity starting at volcanic er. and any holder reveals it, and so on.
In addition to this we use as houserule:
Whenever you have more than the clamities allowed and calamities are thrown out, this is done before any card is revealed, and is kept face down until all calamities are resolved.
This requires a little more skill in keeping track of calamities to know which have passed and who could possible have it. For anyone not paying attention to this, it remains bad luck only. For playes who do keep track, they can plan their losses a bit.
