Post Hidden Calamities
Heyho,

what prevents a player from hiding calamities,
if he could not trade it in the round he has drawn it?
He could easily hide the calamity for some rounds and trade
it away later.
(except form being a honest and fair player)

If a player wants to cheat he will always find a way.

It's up to that player.

A player wanting to cheat will show his behaviour in many ways and it's up to the gamemaster or the group to deal with that.

(another way of cheating sometime shows up is expanding more than allowed and than that player reacts as if he didn't know. Or move tokens more than 1 space and hope no-one will see that)

I hate cheating. If youwant to cheat, go and find yourself another hobby but don't play with me. But that's my opinion.

If you are having problems with people cheating, have someone be the gamemaster, and have that person check hands during the calamity phase.

Alternately, if your gaming group wanted, they could allow this as an alternate rule. If you do not trade a tradable calamity, you may keep it until the next turn. I can see this causing lots of troubles, but if you want to try this, tell us how it works.

I don't think that we will have a problem with cheating people. But I was always
a kind of guy, trying to make the rules foolproof. So my question was out of
interest and not out of need.

Thanks for the answers so far!

Yeah,

But I think Civilization can never be cheat-proof. It's all about trust.

Who ever checks if all players hold 8 cards instead of nine at the end of a turn?

You can check all that, but it has to be a fun game, with the effort of all players. No military camp where you get dismissed when you do something wrong.

as I said: all about trust and all players make the fun an the game together.
