Your thoughts on my Advanced Civ addition

Hello,
I'm getting back into playing Advanced Civ (and this forum by the way) after a long absence. I am really impressed by how far the Expansion Project has come. It is, however, more than I need for my group of six players but I was thinking of adding this variant and would like some feedback. I am thinking of adding "Bounty Cards" to the trade card deck. Bounty Cards are the opposite of Clamity cards. There would be one Bounty Card in each stack except stack one. Bounty cards may be kept until needed and do not count towards the limit of eight cards. Here are some of my ideas.
Stack nine: Caravan (remember I won't be using the Advance Cards from the expansion deck) Actually this isn't my idea but one I found on "The Civ Page". Caravan is a wild card of sorts that can be used as an additional card for those commodities not covered by Mining (E.g. Ivory,Dye,Resin, Spice, Cloth) Stack eight: General. Acts as if the Player has Military for one turn only.
Stack seven: Subversion. Allows the player to trade away a non-tradable calamity.
Stack six: Oracle. Allows player to purchase a Advance before Calamities are resolved.
Stack five: Spy. Allows player to look at another players trade card hand when desired.
Stack four: Loan. Player may take a loan to purchase a Advance, but must pay double the loan in the next turns purchase phase.
Stack three: Dates. Allows player to place a palm tree marker (of which I've made one for each nation) to place on the board where desired to increase the support limit of that area by one.
Stack two: Fishing fleet. For each ship, the player may reduce the effects of famine by two.
And as an Alternative: Quarry. Player places a Quarry counter where desired. This now counts as a new city building site.

Here's a Civilization Advance Card I made up that I mentioned in another thread. It's called Athletics. It's meant to be an Additional card for normal Advanced Civilization but, of course, if desired can be used for the Expansion project. http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/9305 ... ics2ta.pngAnd Here's another Card- Sea Fishing: http://img296.imageshack.us/img296/848/ ... ing7rs.png

The Althletics card is a great idea, but I would call it Circus, focusing instead on Roman Colesium type of entertainment instead of the Olypmics. I would move away from the extra movement-that's kinda far-reaching. Turns are 100 years long at the end of the game and movement is the slow migration of people, not the ability to run farther. Keeping the people happy is what it is all about.
I would make it Civic 190, 1-1/2 token are needed for city support and the effects of Civil Disorder and Civil War are lessened.

Thanks for your comments. How about calling it "Public Games". It's a bit more generic.

"Public Games" is great.
I would always vote for more Civics cards. They mark a real leap in progress in the game. I think that's why the original game had Philosophy as a Civic and not a more appropriate category

I was just scrolling through the forum an d ended up here.
I always liked the part of Civilization, where there is no GOOD luck, just BAD Luck,
Nevertheless, I'd like to test this somewhere in the future.

After all this time I must confess, I never used my own expansion in an actual game except for the #9 Caravan card which proved popular and helps because stack nine often runs short as people buy gold.
The reason is, as you may have experienced, it's often difficult to round up enough players and always at least one has been a new player and I didn't want to add more complexity. To us old hands ( 25 years of playing Civ myself) it can be hard to remember that it may seem very confusing to a new player who hasn't read the rules.
So I'm almost embarrassed to say I have no actual playtesting to report.
