I love playing PBEM, and gamemastering sometimes is difficult and complex requiring lots of time, I enjoy both ways but I agree with alloowishus, I prefer playing if I have the chance, for this cyberboard is really great software.
Turn length is a really tricky point, I'm finishing at this moment EAST GAME cyberboard game, It has been a really funny game and most of the merits belong to players. We are going to finish this game in 7 months, and we have run some turns in only 5-6 days and others more than two or three weeks, in my opinion the lenght of a PBEM game mainly depends on the players, serious PBEM gamers make a game better. Sometimes there are some external problems that stop some players from being able to process the gmv files, but we have patiently wait those
players and we have continued the game without problems. My congratulations for all of them!:).
About the chat I agree with Jonno, time zones and daylife make really difficult to use it as an only method. At this moment in my games we are playing people from different timezones, from Italy, Finland, US, Canada, Spain, UK , Sweeden ..... , it's really difficult to use other thing different from email. Anyway I think that both things can be used, without excluding one of them.
About your Hellenization comments only give my greatest thanks, I have worked hard but I'm having lots of fun with it, not only playing, also designing it. But the biggest merit belong to civproject people, who have given me all the needed support and stuff. Thanks again. I'm still working trying to correct some bugs and improving gameplay.
Hellenization is thought to be used in both ways. I 'm doing my own printed copy and it looks great!, I have done all the cards, playermaths and tokens, and I'm waiting to finish the Betatest to print the map with found bugs corrected. I love cyberboard and I use it not only for civilization , also for other games, but at this moment I only have time to cyberboard through civilization. As I have said in the post above I love this software. Dale Larson has
done a really admirable work!.
Anyway it doesn't matter which is the way used for PBEM, all are good if players have fun!!
Best Regards.
