Post Great library
An idea just struck me, it's probably bad but at least I'll post it so you can rack down on it.

How bout a +250 civ advance named Great library. Yes I know, I think I got the inspiration from the evel Sid Meier computer game, but still.

If you have 50 (or some other random or calculated number) of credits in a advancment field (aka colors) you'll automaticly recieve any advancment already held by two other civs, with that color, for free. However with a maximum of one per turn.

The negative with this would be that it somehow aggrevates both Slave revolt and Tyranny.

(and yes, english isn't my native language so it's probably got spelling mistakes and funny choices of vocabulary.)

Well hey
Might be an option, BUT

This has been discussed yet.

Please read this whole topic.

If you don't want to read the whole of the topic, this is the answer:

1. It might be too powerfull
2. It has to keep track of things (like which cards others have) and that is a thing to avoid.
3. I think an additional card was out of the question anyway.
(read it at: http://www.civproject.net/forum/viewtopic.php?p=2531#2531)

Then it at least aggravates the effects of

But a better idea for this is to give 5 credits to each advance for each other player who has that advance.

Well, we already have a 220 card named "Library"...

Close enough imho.

I think Wonder of the World is closer.
But the problem with Great Library is that is is unique. So I think it is a bad idea to let's say 7 players have their own Great Library, each having their books in their own Great Library, cancelling his own effect...
So we have to make other unique effects of the "same" card, but that already is discussed in the topic of Wonder of the World.

When you want to be historically right, the 'Great Library' or 'Library of Alexandria' does not count as 'wonder of the world', though the original list of the seven wonders was made up IN the library of Alexandria

Those are:

1. The pyramid of Giza
2. The Hanging Gardens of Babylon
3. The Statue of Zeus at Olympia
4. The temple of Artemis at Ephesus
5. The Mausoleum of Mausollos at Halicarnassus
6. The Colossus of Rhodes
7. The Lighthouse of Alexandria

Maybe the librarians did not recognize the importance of their project.

But don;t worry, other buildings that are NOT offical 'wonders of the world' include Stonehenge, The Colloseum, the great wall of China, and The Taj Mahal. (some built later than the list was made up)

read more about it here:
