When playing 16 to 18 players, some commodities are slpit between the east and west. After players spend these cards, how is it determinted how they are re-split east west? For example, if someone turns in 1 Bone card, does it go to the east or west deck?

The newer trade/commodity cards have a small "E" or "W" to help sort those back out.
The set that I last made, I took the older set, printed them with a common single card back, and used a layout program to place a "E" or "W" on the cards that needed it. The newer set on Jon's site should have all that done already.

One quick comment: the current versions up, while they do have "E" and "W" on them, so people know which stack they go back to.
A second reason to mark the cards is the bonus people get in turning in a set of cards from the opposing stacks, which you don't get for shared commoidities. The markings of "E" and "W" are the same on shared and non-shared commodities.
If-when I end up reprinting a set of commodity cards, I will likely use a different color for the "E" and "W" on the shared, or maybe a different font. That way, it's obvious when the set is turned in, if it gets the bonus or not.
