Post New draft of CivProject 2.10
Hi everyone.

Time for a new draft of CivProject 2.10. Depending on available time and what you find this might be the version used at GothCon XXXII at the 21st of Mars.

Anyway, not much have changed since last draft (which got way to little comments). The biggest thing is without question the new branding. Other than that this draft contains some minor corrections and the following changes:

* Adjusted cost of Monotheism (+10), Politics (+10), Provincial Empire (-10), and Trade Empire (-10).
* Updated Playermats (new phase list, no paragraph references).
* Updated Counters (minor clean-up, I can generate a PDF now).
* Updated Commodity cards based on Flo's work.

The following components are still work in progress, but is expected to be ready before 2.10 are finalized:

* Updated calamity cards with Flo's illustrations (WIP).
* Updated civilization cards with Flo's illustrations (done), layout (WIP), attribute texts (done?), and flavour texts (done?).

All the updated files are to be found in the Archive, but are also listed here for your convenience.
Please do check them out and tell me of any errors you find! Suggestions and opinions are also welcome.

oh hey, I saw these question marks.
The flavour texts are done. I haven't been working on the advances-layout because of the discussion about monotheism, politics, fundamentalism, and wonder of the world.
Beside the right defention of the attributes-text is not finished in my opinion. I haven't spent any time on that. That's why I started working on the drawings for the calamities during the time I'm at home, and the commodities at any other place where I got some free time and the use of internet and Photoshop.

I'll ask my cousin gerart to look at the attributes again.

I'd say, for now, we don't change the advances like discussed, only in a newer version after playtesting. I'm not playtesting before april I think.

The core rulebook and the quick charts has undergone some textual revisions.

The only rule change is the removed maximum of five unit points lost by Tribal Conflict. Depopulation two areas from tokens is still pretty lame, as you get to choose which two yourself.

I this is the latest version of the rules,

I have some comment on 'attacking'.

In the attributes-text topic we discussed removing 'enemy' in 'attacking an enemy city', it's still in the rules.

Besided I couldn't find a proper definition of 'attacking'
in the case of cultural ascendancy.

Maybe I didn't look well enough, but I think It should be described somewhere in the rules, maybe with a marking in 'cultural ascendancy'.

and how about 'diplomacy'

I just havn't re-published the rules since. In 2.10-draft4 (not yet finished), the word "enemy" is only used three times, in relation to path tracing (25.2.2 and 25.8.2) and Roadbuilding (30.43.2).

Then you looked at the wrong place. It's part of paragraph 17 (Movement):
CoreRulebook(2.10-draft4) wrote:
17.4.1 Players not holding Diplomacy (30.15) or Military (30.28) may not attack a city belonging to a player holding Diplomacy. Attacking a city is defined as moving tokens into an area containing a city in enough force that conflict would occur.
17.4.2 Players holding Cultural Ascendancy (30.11) or Advanced Military (30.2) may not attack any units belonging to a player holding Cultural Ascendancy. Attacking units is defined as moving tokens into an area containing units in enough force that conflict would occur.

Please note that §30 (Civilization Cards) only contains "Short summaries of all attributes of the cards" (same as the quick chart), while "Details of how these attributes work are found in The Phases (IV) and Calamities (29)." (quotes from §30.1).
However, each attribute summary in §30 does have a paragraph reference to the normative section in The Phases (§13-§28) or Calamities (§29), which is why the Cultural Ascendancy paragraph reads "30.11.2 Players may not attack a holder's units without holding either Cultural Ascendancy or Advanced Military (17.4.2).", and you can read the details in 17.4.2.

I will have some time available in the next few weeks and after reading through the 2.09 rules I'd like to review the 2.10 rules and suggest some corrections and modifications.
