AST advancement point value change

I am currently playtesting the hellenization expansion project but one thing I noticed is the significant change to the AST progression point values. In the old game, each level of advancement was worth 100 points, now it's only worth 5. That's a major change. It means that being further ahead on the chart doesn't really matter. Just wondering why you made this change and if you think it's a good idea? I personally don't, it means making the different epoch requirements doesn't really matter.

The change isn't that big if you take into account that all other figures also have been lowered. Actually AST is more valuable now! In AdvCiv AST was worth 1600 VP (Victory Points) out of a maximum of 5240 VP, which is approximately 30%. In CivProject AST is worth 80 VP out of a total of 191 VP, which is approximately 41%. So epoch requirements have actually become more important, while cities have become substantially less valuable (4.7% in CivProject vs. 8.6% in AdvCiv). This change was made because the increased amount of civcards made counting VP even worse than in AdvCiv.
The basic idea is that all civcards all are worth the same amount (2 VP). This will affect civcard purchases at endgame (you'll buy the cheapest cards rather than the cards with largest percentage credits). However, we did lots of math to ensure that it would still be more valuable to buy 3 civcards at 200+ to pass AST requirements than to just buy as many cheep cards as posible. That is why AST became worth as much as 5 points each (first guess was 3 or 4), which is equal to 5 cities (1 VP each), as opposed to 2 cities in AdvCiv (2x50=100), and 2.5 civcards, as opposed to the average 0.75 in AdvCiv (on the other hand you'll have more civcards in CivProject, so this isn't really comparable).
