Game - Kansas City MO USA - New Year's Day 2005

We're putting together a game for New Year's Day in the Kansas City metro area. There is a yahoogroups devoted to it - kc_civ@yahoogroups.com

I'm more trolling for people who are on the forums, and are in the area, who aren't in contact :)

We're running our game Saturday (one of the people playing has wrangled a meeting room at a hotel.) I'm going to look over the 2.06 draft rules and try to use those (failing that 2.05). One of the things I do is print out a complete copy of the rules for each player, plus the various cheat sheets.

We're using a status board - see the photos of Craig Bartel's similiar one in the Image on the website (http://67.66.187.69/civproject/images/c ... Craig6.JPG.)

Though, the usage matches what Craig uses now, instead of then. Now, there are three columns labled, Waiting, Moving, Moved and you move the country marker from one column to another. The countries are orderd according to census (actually movement order) and then it's pretty easy to see who can move simo, and where we're waiting on.

I took a piece of standard sized foam core and cut up another one (and a ton of velcro squares.) Though if I did it today, I would use velcro tape and glue it.

One thing that Craig does that I haven't done yet is an Advances Chart:

It's a nifty idea, though with 18 players and tons more advances, the thing would just be huge.

I considered the possibility of printing on adhesive backed vinyl on then on a sheet of corragated plastic... or maybe a backlit sheet and then dry-erase markers. But it would cost me more than the map does :)

For now, I'm just printing out copies of the Advances chart for each player (in color) and *not* printing out the Civ Advance cards. Simpler and less cutting and cheaper :)

At the moment, looking at 9 definites, and 2 maybes; Craig is one of the "maybes". We are in the same metro area.

I have a New Year's party the night before and will be doing some recruiting at that, though with hangovers, that's not always the best thing ::chortle::
