Post Review on a 7-player game using the Expansion Project
Our group contains 11 players, and last time we played 7.

We play for a trophy two times a year and the winner has to write a review on it.
I translated it to english for you.

Review Summer Civ 2007

Saturday 1 September 2007 we held our six-monthly Civilization-day @ Flo & Judith's. This time it wouldn't be a regular day, cause this time we would take a step further. Via Internet we discovered the Expansion Project. A whole lot of new ingredient to the game.

Because of the way I lost the previous time (When it came clear I'd win, all other players tried to stop me, and I finally reached 2nd place) I decided to do a real study on all new cards. I really needed to win, if it weren't for the fact I wanted to put something straight.

We played with seven players this time. Flo, Judith, Sproon, Mark, Mike and me could call ourselves the veteran players. Jorn was the rookie. All got in on time so we could start at nine. I randomly got Babylon, a wealthy delta, far away from the threads of the Mediterainean Sea, which the previous time made me very vulnerable.

Everyone started rather successful, until here and there the first calamities popped up. Judith was the first large victim in the development phase hitting both a civil war and Epidemic. Half her empire went to Jorn, (which as a result reached immediately a maximum of nine cities,) and other half was once more halved by the Epidemic. Jorn did good matter immediately buying military, which I found was a very good choice strategically.

Since Judith directly started to conquer the Promised Land and Flo ran for the current Turkey, I came to run a little short on city sites, as a result of which I couldn't build
No ninth city at that stage. When I came to Fundamentalism (Sproon had started punching me), I no longer dared to reach nine, fear for the new calamity Regression.

Eventually I never build the ninth during the rest of the complete game, something
I would never expect at first. As an alternative I decided to aim at the trade and particularly the sixes, which I could buy extra using Mining. That went successful, so I was one stey beyond in the advances or the remainder of the game. Sproon were notable for making a good game in Greece without any notice and thus kept a steady empire.

Flo proceeded however in the AST, on which I had a delay of two turns. I had to do two things to keep up in the endscore. No longer damage on the AST and to buy enough advances to preserve at least 10 points advance. I succeeded in that (has been helped slightly because I received relatively few calamities), as a result of which I could take the trophy after again a complete long day. It was great again.
