Finally we are done!!!
Find the results HERE.
Sorry for the delay, but now you will find some fotos, a lot of statistics,
and a final winner.
Again, we played with painted cubes, and all players confirmed, that it
was a lot easier to touch, stock, move, handle and play than with paperboard
tokens we had before.
And: Next time we will play at once, maybe in early January.

Hellas was used by Carthage to attack Minoa, as Hellas was missing
2 gaming sessions. When he came back, his civilization was not to
be rescued. In the last session he used some free time to made
several stuff from modeling clay.

So the policy to bring a missing player back in the game is off?
what do you think of proposal for a player leaving:

MerlokDD, this is a great game report! I must try to document our games like this.
Day 1 wrote: Turn 3 – Minoa builds the first ship, the first cities are build by Rome and Assyria.
Two civilizations built cities on turn? Doesn't that mean they ended the turn with one city and 2 men? I am guessing they didn't win the game.

We used to have a policy that the winner of the game had to write a review on the whole game.
But as the number of players expanded, not every player actually felt the need to do so. and 3 weeks after, all info was out of their heads.
So somehow this houserule faded away.

That's what they did. You see the results on Day6, as they became 4th and 5th. They thought about having cities first, more trade cards and so on.
But both played one game before and nobody wanted to force them to wait.

Playing weekly our decision was to have missing players to be played
by this Missing Player Policy, and not be stating a secretary.
This was ok, and worked well. Babylon became 4th and Hellas was
expanded quite large. Hellas lost due to giving secretary to Carthage
and this guy used it to attack only (no development afterwards).
For a usual game on one day, we will stick to the new "drop out rule"
you mentioned. There is no need for players to come back.

I understand. We talked about this before. It is a compromise to have players actually play instead of making clay figures ( )

Not really,
it's just necessary if someone drops out for one week,
but will be there again for the next weeks. But only in
our special weekly play rhythm. For a game at one day
the missing player policy should not be used.
(ok, maybe for someone only who has to leave for 1
hour or so and coming back afterwards)
The modeling clay was some other thing.
Having only two cities at the end, no trading options,
no interest in his neighbors, no advances to develop,
he was kind of bored and took the modeling clay.
He made the mistake to announce someone as secretary
who was on the evil trip to attack with the weekest civilization
the strongest one. When he came back he had two cities only
and 4 neighbors partitioning his area.

I was making a joke.
By your policy each week all players showing up, could actually play.
That's great, but a compromise. because if you have an evil player taking advance of that, it might result in this.
If you've used another policy, a player should stay aside some day.
and if he's not playing he can use his time for clay modelling.
(or watch tv or go home or whatever)
