My apologies if this card has been suggested or even exists, but there seems to be a run on higher-level "Greek" advances so I can't help but throw this idea into the ring. ACADEMY - Civic 200+ range Obvious benefits seem to be offering discounts to other cards, but I think it would be more realistic and make more sense towards the end of the game (when this card would actually be purchased) to also ease the effects of the Civil War/Disorder calamities. I'll probably think of more specialized benefits later after you guys shoot holes in this post |

Empiricism used to be called Academy. It's worth a lot less then your suggestion as you know however. |

Ah, I see now. My main objection would be the cost, because that means it is often purchased much sooner, especially because it provides credits towards other advancements. To me, that makes little sense; Societites would be using empirical analysis before they have literacy. My vote is to make advances attained later in history more expensive to make the acquisition of them more historically accurate. Another example is Drama and Poetry. I would make that a 200+ advancement. In regular Civ it's usually purchased early and that means that Aristophanes would be producing plays at the same time they're discoving how to make clay pots. That has always baffled me. |
