Is corruption handled immediately when drawn before trading starts, or is it handled normally during the calamity phase? We could not agree on this in our group the other night. Thanks |

Hi Lasivian, Welcome to the forum! All calamities are resoluted only after all trading is done (and before reducing unsupported cities) and in a specific order. First all minor calamities are revealed and resoluted. Then each major calamity is resoluted one after the other, starting from the lower number up until the highest, and for each number non-tradables before tradables. So Corruption is resoluted after epidemic and before Civil Disorder. Only at that point, the primary victim must discard face value 10 points of trade cards, eventually increased or decreased by any civilization advances held. So the primary victim that draws the card can try and trade in any high numbered trade cards to reduce damage. Discarding only 1's and 2's might result in discarding 4 or 5 cards, where only a '9' and an '1' result in the least amount of cards to be discarded. |

Ok, then why do the rules say: 28.711 Victim must immediately discard 10 or more points worth of commodity cards (face value, not set value) of his choice. These cards are shuffled back into the appropriate decks after the Acquire Civilization Cards phase (26. If you are correct I suggest the rule should read: 28.711 The victim must discard 10 or more points worth of commodity cards (face value, not set value) of his choice. These cards are shuffled back into the appropriate decks after the Acquire Civilization Cards phase (26. |
