Post subject:  Exact amount of players

Does anyone have proper suggestions for a selection of the mapboard (or variations for an exact amount of players:

Like: what areas to use and NOT to use having exactly:

6 players
7 players
8 players
9 players
10 players
11 players
12 players
etc
etc

Maybe I can edit these into a layered picture file and created several images for using in the rulebook or on this site.

This might even make the rulebook more attractive and easier to get a quick view on the mapboard.

this is an example (not the right areas are selected)

Though there are many different options to set up 7 player game for example I suggest that the rulebook gives standard setup rules for a 7 player game and that all the different options are placed in the optional rulebook.

It might even attract people more to take a look at the optional rulebook.

Flo, look at the scenario book, it is all in there. Since you like specifics, I really really like the east map board for 6 (Dravidia, Kushan, Parthia, Persia, Maurya).

ok sorry. i haven't cheked it, cuz I don;t have it here.
I have no experience with the 18-player map, cause we always play with max 8 people.

But I'm starting to.

Hey I actually never saw the scenario handbook cause it's only in the archive.

shouldn't this be in the core rulebook? How often do you play less than 18 players. most of the time to me.

What I fancy is this:

2.14 FIVE PLAYER GAME
2.14.1 Our current best recommendation is to find another player and play a six player game. If
that is not possible Iberia, Carthage, Rome, Hellas, and Minoa; or Babylon, Persia, Saba, Nubia,
and Egypt; can be played.

We realized this yesterday too.

I find this kinda confusing:

2.2 GENERAL GUIDELINES
2.2.1 In addition to the rules set out in paragraph 9.3 in the Core Rulebook the following issues
should be taken into account for the best game play.
2.2.1 Even though the Celts does border Hatti north of the Crimean sea, this border is too short
and too distant to count. Thus the Celts only borders Iberia, Rome, and Hellas; and Hatti only
borders Hellas, Minoa, and Assyria; for the purpose of picking civilizations in play.
2.2.2 Even though Saba does border Egypt, this border is too short and too distant to count. Thus
Saba only borders Nubia, Persia and Babylon; and Egypt only borders Carthage, Nubia, Babylon
and Assyria; for the purpose of picking civilizations in play.
2.2.3 Hellas and Minoa should not be played without each other. Their areas are to intertwined to
successfully play one without the other
2.2.4 Minoa does not necessarily have to border two nations directly. If Minoa can reach at least
two additional nations over one deep sea area, that can replace one direct neighbor. In
combination with the 2.2.3 above that mean that Minoa only can be played if either Hellas and
Hatti, or Hellas and two out of Rome, Carthage, Egypt and Assyria, are in play.

Actually I'm looking for what area's to use and what area's not to use.
Found it!

I like to make images that show what field to play.

I could cut out cardboard piece to overlay the unused area's.

Yup, it is easy to miss. I know about it mostly because I was helping Velusion work on it for a while. Actually the Celtic Fury map is based out of the recommendations of the Scenario book.

Sounds great

I hope to take a better look at it to come up with a better visual scheme.
